The Legal 500 is an independent and impartial body that reviews and offers information regarding professional law firms in the UK. Their ranking tier allows individuals to see how the Legal 500 have scored the law firm in question, and includes professional testimonials for peers and clients.
This week the 2021 edition of the Legal 500 report has been released, and Howells Solicitors are thrilled that 5 of their departments have been highly ranked.
Criminal Defence Ranking
Our Criminal Defence department was awarded the Legal 500 tier 1 ranking, and they were highlighted for their strengths in mental health, civil liberties and youth crime matters.
The report also commends Directors Chris Wong and Mary Rose Macadam, stating: āPractice heads Chris Wong and Mary Rose Macadam are highly rated, and often referred cases by their peers, specialising in high-profile cases.ā
Kathryn Lill, Criminal Defence Solicitor in Barnsley, was also commended for her work, stating that she ācontinues to excel in work with vulnerable and younger clients.ā

The ever expanding Family Law team at Howells were ranked in the Legal 500 tier 2, with specific mentions of Partner Alyson Siddall.
Legal 500 state āHowells fields a substantial family team, which also features eight Children Panel members and five Resolution accredited panel members.
