Ben is a Paralegal in the Matrimonial Team at Howells Solicitors, currently working towards qualification as a solicitor through the firm’s Training Contract programme.

After graduating with an LLB (Hons) in Law from the University of York in August 2024—where Ben received an academic prize for the highest cohort grade in the Asylum: Theory, Law, and Practice of The International Protection of Refugees module and was a regional finalist in the Client Interviewing Competition—Ben went on to study the LLM Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Trent University, and is on track to graduate with Distinction in December 2025.

Before pursuing a career in law, Ben worked with Chesterfield FC Community Trust, supporting children and families from challenging backgrounds and those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

This role involved safeguarding responsibilities and delivering inclusive sporting and educational programmes, which helped develop strong interpersonal and advocacy skills. These experiences now inform and strengthen Ben’s work in the Family department, where they assist clients with sensitivity, professionalism, and a commitment to achieving positive outcomes.
