John is a Director, senior family law Solicitor and head of the family law team at Howells. He joined the firm in 2006 and having previously specialised in criminal law, he trained with the firm and qualified as a family law Solicitor.
John specialises in all aspects of matrimonial law including divorce, unmarried couples, financial matters arising on separation and divorce, pre and post-nuptial agreements and protection from domestic abuse. He also specialises in children disputes, the arrangements for children generally and domestic and international child abductions.
John is also the training principal at Howells, developing the next generation through the firm.
The breakdown of a relationship is invariably one of the most difficult situations anyone can encounter in life. John has extensive experience in assisting his clients resolve the wide-ranging difficulties arising from that situation and is passionate about helping to the conclusion of that process as sensitively as possible.
John is a member of a voluntary organisation called Resolution, which promotes dealing with family law issues in a constructive way and focusing upon the needs of any children involved.
John is also a member of the local Resolution committee to promote those principles on a wider basis. He attained Resolution accreditation as a specialist family law practitioner in 2014.
He is also on the University of Sheffieldâs School of Law Advisory Board, where he advises and informs about provision of education in the legal sector and helps guide strategic direction of the University.
John is also accredited as one of the top solicitors in the UK by the prestigious Chambers and Partners.
